Our Diversity Statement

We value the diversity of our colleagues, partners, volunteers, and students. Doing so allows College Summit to create an environment of learning, innovation, and collaboration; and it supports College Summit developing particular diversity skills and tools for college access. We do this to ensure that we effectively equip schools to increase the college-going rate in low-income communities.

Defining Diversity and Inclusion for College Summit

We define diversity as differences that influence and affect our workforce and the communities and partners we engage, in the following areas: race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, ability, age, faith, gender, geography, political views, and sexual orientation.

Inclusion is how we live our commitment to diversity. It shapes how we honor the perspectives, abilities, and identities of our teammates; how we listen to, engage, and respond to our partners; how we connect to and appreciate our alumni; and how we train and acknowledge our educators, students, and volunteers.

Beliefs

Our commitment to cultural competency deepens our understanding of the schools and communities with which we partner, enabling us to better equip them with effective tools and strategies.

By recruiting and engaging leaders who share the racial, ethnic, and socio-economic background of our students, we strengthen our impact.

An inclusive workplace fosters the trust necessary for successful teamwork, and yields the best solutions through a rigorous exchange of ideas and perspectives.

Our students are powerful. Given the opportunity, regardless of barriers, they can achieve their dreams.

Our alumni are dynamic. The depth of their commitment to empowering their peers and communities helps drive our mission.

In order for America to fulfill its promise, we must tap all of its diverse talent. College Summit drives to that goal, by building the capacity of our schools to increase the college enrollment rate in low-income communities.
