College Summit is strongly committed to respecting student, staff, and partner privacy and to protecting all personal information provided to us. The intent of this privacy policy is to detail the information College Summit may gather about users who visit the Web sites it owns and operates, how that information is used, and College Summit's disclosure practices. Please note that this policy applies only to collegesummit.org and collegesummit.net, and not to the Web sites of other companies or organizations to which we provide links.

Individual User Information

College Summit collects personal information from users in order to service our various constituents. We collect detailed personal information from students in order to facilitate the college application process.

College Summit's web sites use cookies, which are used to provide tailored information and enhance your web experience. A cookie is an element of data that a web site can send to your browser, which may then store it on your system. Detailed information about College Summit’s use of cookies is detailed in the section titled “Cookie Policy.”

We restrict access to non-public personal information to our employees who need to know that information to provide College Summit services. Furthermore, we maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect nonpublic personal information.

We will continue to adhere to the privacy policy described in this notice even after individuals’ interaction with us is over.

Disclosure

College Summit reserves the right to access and disclose individually identifiable information to comply with applicable laws and lawful government requests, to operate its systems properly or to protect itself or its users. We reserve the right to share aggregated "site usage" non-personal information with third parties. College Summit also reserves the right to share information with College Summit partners that perform administrative, marketing, research, or other services for College Summit that help us deliver on our mission.

Students who participate in a College Summit workshop are asked to consent to using their name, likeness, essay, and speech in any audiotape, videotape, film, book, or photograph made at any College Summit program for any informational, instructional and/or fundraising purposes of College Summit. Those students also give College Summit permission to submit a copy of their Preview Portfolio, which includes all college application materials including a Common Application, personal essay, transcript, recommendations, evaluations, and their personal contact information to any College Summit partner college or university.

Cookie Policy

Some of College Summit's web sites offer customized features and advanced account access that require the use of cookies. A cookie is a piece of information that College Summit's web sites ask your browser and computer to store for future use.

College Summit will attempt to limit the use of cookies as much as possible. We will not use cookies to see what other data is stored on your computer or attempt to learn personal information about you. College Summit's web sites have access only to the information from cookies stored by our web sites. We do not attempt to view cookies other than those created by us. We do not use cookies to gather personal information. We will not share or give others access to information stored in cookies. In summary, we will only use cookies when alternate means are not practical or when your overall user experience may be impacted by not using cookies.

College Summit's web sites use “session-based” Cookies. Session-based cookies are temporary cookies and are deleted automatically by your browser. These cookies are used to verify your browser's ability to accept cookies and to automatically authenticate you with our web servers. This is necessary so that you will not have to enter your login ID and password more than once during each session.
