Just as providing reliable ongoing student data is instrumental in helping our school partners innovate to increase college-going at the school level, College Summit carefully measures programmatic results to continue to grow and build the strongest, most effective initiative possible.  We use data every day to constantly improve our own performance.

For example, the West Virginia Commission on Higher Education compared high schools adopting College Summit’s college-culture strategies, which accounted for about 10% of the state population, with non-participating high schools. For the two years before the high schools began working with College Summit, all of the high schools followed the same college-going patterns. But since 2004, when the high schools began working with College Summit, the high schools building college culture outperformed the rest of the state by 13%. Similarly, St. Louis schools participating in College Summit saw 20% more of their students enroll in college in their first year of participation. So far these students have stayed in college at above national norms for low-income students.

College Summit has a record of measurable accomplishments.  We track not only program inputs and outputs, but also focus on the impact on our students and communities.  Evidence indicates that our initiative is making progress in closing the college enrollment gap among low-income students.
