The University of Missouri – St. Louis has been a partner of College Summit St. Louis for three years now. UMSL, with the leadership of Vice Provost Curt Coonrod, has been a stabilizing force in the development and success of College Summit St. Louis; Mr. Coonrod himself was a very integral part in CS coming to St. Louis and continues to be an avid supporter: “We have seen so many programs. They all promise the moon and usually we approach them with caution. We looked at College Summit carefully and were really impressed. College Summit is going to deliver results.”
UM- St. Louis hosted workshops for three years (2005-07). UM- St. Louis also agreed to host one of our inaugural Educator’s Institutes in August of 2006. This nationwide training for teachers and educators was a rousing success, and UMSL’s contribution and support was invaluable.
Southeast Missouri State University, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, has been a College Summit partner for the past two years. Alan Byrd, Associate Director of Enrollment Management at Southeast, has been instrumental in the success of College Summit's summer workshops. Mr. Byrd has also fostered meaningful relationships with the young people of College Summit to attract and retain them on Southeast's campus. His roles as advocate, supporte, and mentor are invaluable.
"College Summit does a great job of exposing students to the college experience. Although the workshops are only four days, they do a lot in regards to shaping the goals and aspirations of the participants. At Southeast, we take great pride in serving a large population of first-generation and low-income students. We believe our partnership with College Summit enhances our ability to ensure student success."
