Miami-Dade Wins Broad Prize

College Summit Partner Miami-Dade Wins Prestigious Broad Prize

Earlier today, U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan announced the 2012 Broad Prize for Urban Education was awarded to Miami-Dade County Public Schools. As the winner of the award that recognizes the large urban school district making the greatest progress in the country in raising student achievement, Miami-Dade will receive $550,000 in college scholarships for its high school seniors. As a Miami – Dade partner, College Summit would like to congratulate Superintendent Alberto Carvalho and his colleagues at Miami-Dade for achieving the impressive student gains that earned the district the most prestigious award in American education.

In his Broad acceptance speech, Superintendent Carvalho graciously acknowledged the work of College Summit, City Year, and Teach for America for supporting their students’ success. College Summit is honored to support their efforts and the college and career achievements of Miami’s extraordinary students.
