During 2007, the Mind Trust, an Indianapolis based non-profit focused on supporting education entrepreneurship, invested time, energy and capital to create the framework for a College Summit pilot at Emmerich Manual High School. Thanks to the strong community leadership from Superintendents Dr. Eugene White (Indianapolis Public Schools) and Don Stinson (MSD Decatur Township), and Mind Trust President, Davis Harris, College Summit–Indiana emerged as a solid pilot with strong evidence of student progress.
(e.g. According to IPS Superintendent Dr. Eugene White, the number of Emmerich Manual High School students applying to college has increased by 50 percent since College Summit came to the school).
Based on the aforementioned pilot which served 137 students at Manual HS; and after fulfilling all other launch requirements, Indianapolis became College Summit's seventh established site in April 2008 (College Summit-Indiana). Additionally, the work at Manual HS resulted in a three-year commitment from IPS to strategically serve each of its seven (7) high schools and community high schools (nearly 2,000 students) by the third year of operation.

In 2008-09, College Summit-Indiana will serve approximately 750 students from Emmerich Manual HS, Thomas Carr Howe Community High School (IPS) and Decatur Central HS (MSD Decatur Township). During the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 school years, College Summit-Indiana will serve 1,000 students and conceivably 2,000 students respectively, and add five additional IPS high schools and all of the students at Decatur Central.
Our initial work is focused within the Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) in order to build the foundation for our planned expansion to additional school districts and outreach to more students in Marion County (and ultimately throughout the state). This work will result in a powerful, measurable, and sustainable shift to a more prevalent college-going culture in the Indianapolis metropolitan area. CS – Indiana recognizes the untapped talent of hundreds of thousands of low-income college-capable students. Therefore, our goal is to build systemic support in the critical transition from grade 12 to “13” by mobilizing teachers, counselors, high schools, school districts, colleges, employers, community leaders, and philanthropy toward a day when all college-ready students have a college education as a viable option.
