NCR 2009 Summer Workshop Season

During Summer 2009, College Summit-NCR hosted 8 workshops where over 200 volunteers and staff led over 400 Peer Leaders through the college application process.

400 Peer Leaders!
200 Volunteers!
32 Days!
8 Workshops!

The Summer of 2009 was College Summit-NCR’s most successful workshop season to date. Our workshop staff, volunteers, and the rising high school seniors who will be Peer Leaders during the 2009-2010 school year, embarked on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment. These Peer Leaders will take what they learned in those four days and help transform college-going culture in their schools and communities.

Peer Leaders and Volunteers in their own words:

“First, I want to say thank you, thank you for helping me to realize my writing potential. Because of you, and how much you have assisted me, for the first time I feel confident in my writing and my ability to be successful and go to college, and not just going to the Army for lack of a better choice.” - 2009-2010 Peer Leader

“I just returned from my first absolutely amazing College Summit Workshop at Coppin State in Baltimore. I’m definitely going back for more next year. I’m hooked…I was totally blown away by the fine-tuned organization and curriculum! You guys really have the execution to a place rarely seen in the nonprofit world or academia! ...I know I learned as much, if not more, than the peer leaders!” - 2009 Writing Coach
