College Summit and Deloitte “A Night of Visionaries” Principal Event

On November 18th, College Summit hosted a “Night of Visionaries” – an event co-sponsored by Deloitte – at the Grill Room in the World Financial Center.  The purpose of the event was for principals, College Summit volunteers, and partnering organizations to gather together to discuss various ways to improve the NYC school landscape as it relates to creating a college-going culture.  Some principals participated in a small focus group with Gregg Betheil, Executive Director of the newly created NYC-DOE Office of Post Secondary Pathways & Planning.  All attendees were introduced to members of the 2009 Peer Leader Ambassador Council.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the 2009 Deloitte Award to High School for Law, Advocacy and Community Service.  The $5,000 award was awarded to the College Summit partner which best showcased their school’s innovative college-going culture; the award was accepted by LACJ principal Miriam Nightengale and College Summit Coordinator, Pat Giandolfo was also in attendance.
