Volunteer Opportunities

Each summer, College Summit volunteers give more than 12,000 hours of their time as Writing Coaches and College Coaches at our Peer Leader Workshops. These four day workshops, held during the summer on the campuses of our partner universities, are life-changing opportunities where students come together to affirm their strengths, build community and chart a course to college.

During the four day experience, volunteer Coaches guide students in crafting their personal statements or creating college lists. Two of our 2012 Summer volunteers shared a little about their experience:

“Thank you! I have volunteered for many organizations in my life - never have I encountered one as well-run as College Summit.” Leslie Roberts, Writing Coach Volunteer at UC Berkeley

“I loved my group of peer leaders and was amazed by their stories and strength! College Summit was definitely a great experience” Adeva Cha, Writing Coach at University of the Pacific, Stockton

Educators' Academy: Our Educators' Academy Season is underway. We kicked it off on July 26th at Lionel Wilson College Prep and have held four Educators' Academies since then. Our Program Team trains educators at school-site-based Educators' Academies, which are professional development sessions that are tailored to meet the needs of each school. At these sessions, we provide in-depth training on our curriculum, our student data portals (CSNav and Naviance), instructional strategies, and on ways to engage peer leaders, all in support of strengthening college-going cultures and increasing access to college. So far we have trained 32 educators and counselors and look forward to the rest of our site-based Educators' Academies.
