Peer Leaders & Alumni

Peer Leaders:

One of the most unique characteristics about College Summit South Carolina is the passion and effort the students put into building a college-going culture. Even from our original Peer Leaders back in 2004, College Summit South Carolina students boldly make the desire to ignite others about college.

During the 2010-11 school year, College Summit South Carolina's Peer Leaders will be embarking on their pathways to college and striving to create a college-going culture within their schools. Here are two of the sample projects they will do:

•    Making SAT/ACT care packages for all students who will be taking the SAT/ACT throughout the school year
•    Encouraging and assisting fellow classmates that students are filling out and completing their FAFSAs

Alumni:

Alumni play a special role at College Summit South Carolina. They are the proof that going to college IS possible. Even though a student may fear the chances of getting into college, to know that they know someone who was just like them achieve the goal is always an inspiration. College Summit South Carolina Alumni are just influential at workshops, but throughout the year as well.

Starting in July 2009, College Summit South Carolina as a region teamed up with the National Alumni Department to launch the Alumni Ambassador program. This program is specifically designed for students who are transitioning from their senior year in high school into their freshman year of college. Ambassador candidates complete numerous hours of professional development and College Summit related service to earn the title of "Alumni Ambassador." College Summit South Carolina also held the title in the initial year of having 7 Alumni complete the program.

College Summit South Carolina loves to know about their students not just while they are in high school, but even while in college as well.
