Jon Charles, Executive Director

Prior to joining College Summit, Jon, a Bluefield, West Virginia native, was a teacher and administrator for ten years. In addition to teaching Italian part time, Jon taught American literature and history in a gifted and talented magnet program and Theory of Knowledge in an International Baccalaureate school. In previous positions, he also served as professional development administrator and as state writing portfolio coordinator. While education has been his primary area of experience, Jon was a buyer and collaborator in a small retail business.  Jon graduated from Transylvania University where he majored in English and history and minored in French and Italian. After doing his initial graduate work at the University of Kentucky in educational leadership and gifted and talented education, Jon earned an MBA at Virginia Tech.  

Keri Ferro, Program Director

Keri joined the College Summit team in September 2007 and is a graduate of West Virginia State University (B.A. Education, 2002) and Marshall University (M.A., Leadership Studies, 2005). Keri, a St. Albans native, is a former chemistry teacher in Kanawha County and also a former College Summit Advisor. She is currently seeking a doctorate in education at Marshall University. Keri joined the College Summit team because of her passion for education and for the opportunity to help improve college and career readiness for all students.

Stephanie Gale, School Partnership Manager

As a Kanawha County native, Stephanie received her BA from West Virginia State University in 2006 with an emphasis in education. After graduating, she spent six years as an office manager and training developer for a multi-national trading firm in Dublin. While there, she also graduated with honors from the National College of Ireland earning her MA in Learning and Teaching. Stephanie taught in Liberty County, Georgia from January to May, 2012 before pursuing her career with College Summit where she utilizes her skill in account management and as an educator in order to better prepare students for their post-secondary experience. In her spare time, Stephanie loves to travel, get involved with local music, spend time outdoors and surround herself with friends and family.

Megan Hannah, School Partnership Manager

Prior to joining the College Summit team, Megan spent several years in account management and college admissions. She has traveled extensively throughout West Virginia, as well as portions of Ohio and Kentucky, to meet with high school students and educators to promote higher education. Megan received her bachelor’s degree in public relations from West Virginia Wesleyan in 2008 and a master’s degree in integrated marketing communications from West Virginia University in 2010. Megan is passionate about higher education in West Virginia and helping students succeed through college and career readiness, and in her spare time she enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with her husband and two basset hounds.

Shayna MacCleary, Development Manager
Prior to joining College Summit, Shayna worked for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) for many years and was based out of Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic as a Senior Behavioral Therapist working with and advocating for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders. She has spent time collaborating with school districts across western Pennsylvania to main stream children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Aside from UPMC, Shayna has volunteered at Bender Consulting Services in Pittsburgh working with the Bender Academy classes in hopes of furthering the anti-bullying campaign and helping students with disabilities to further their postsecondary training and become involved with competitive job opportunities. Shayna holds a bachelor ‘s degree in Social Work from Bethany College located in Bethany, West Virginia. While working full-time with UPMC, Shayna devoted three years furthering her graduate work in Speech and Language Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh. Shayna currently resides in a suburb of Pittsburgh and enjoys entertaining her family and close friends.

Meghann Slaven, School Partnership Manager

In April 2011, Meghann joined the College Summit team after more than four years of experience in college admissions. She has traveled extensively in West Virginia, throughout the northeastern United States, and as far south as Puerto Rico to meet with students and school administrators to promote higher education. Meghann is a graduate of Ohio University with bachelor degrees in journalism and performance and choreography. In her free time, she enjoys teaching Pilates and dance, working in her urban vegetable garden and playing outside with her Chocolate Labrador, Hurley.

Jennifer joined the College Summit team in July 2010. She enjoys promoting the good work of College Summit in the community and working with peer leaders, alumni, and volunteers. Jennifer is a graduate of West Virginia University Institute of Technology (B.S., Business Management, 2001) and West Virginia University (M.S., Integrated Marketing Communications, 2009). Jennifer brings experience and expertise from the nonprofit and higher education sectors with interest and experience in college access. Prior to joining to the College Summit team, Jennifer volunteered for College Summit for three years. She is passionate about College Summit because of the opportunities it provides to students and because it makes a difference in her home state.
