Many students enter their senior year unsure of what they want to do after high school. For those that know they want to go to college, many are still nervous about going through the process, unaware of many of the steps needed to get them there. Thankfully, if your school is implementing the College Summit program, you won’t have to go through this process on your own. Whether you choose the college path, the world of work, the military, an apprenticeship, or something different altogether, this program will help you prepare for life after high school.Whether College Summit is set up at your school as a class or as an advisory group, you will have a teacher at your school (we like to call them College Summit Advisors) who will guide you and 15-30 other classmates through all the key steps to make it to college. These College Summit Advisors will have been trained over the summer by College Summit on how to help you through this process, and they will be familiar with the tools that College Summit provides for you:
Besides your College Summit Advisor, you will also be able to lean on some of your classmates. One out of every 5 College Summit students is a Peer Leader – a student who goes to one of College Summit’s 4 day summer workshops. After going through much of the college application process at these workshops, these Peer Leaders become experts themselves, and are able to take a leadership role in their school in helping friends and classmates navigate the college application process. Interested in being a Peer Leader yourself? Make sure to talk to your college counselor during the spring of your junior year.
