Senior Year College Countdown

 You can make it to college—in TEN easy steps!*

September

1. Research and create a list of potential colleges for application. (For more information on identifying your college preferences, see Week 3 of your College Summit Navigator.)

2. Complete application forms for each college to which you’re applying.


October

3. Write your personal statement. (For more information on the personal statement, see Weeks 6 – 8 of your College Summit Navigator.)


November

4. Request a recommendation from your teacher, counselor, employer, or community professional. Be aware that some of your colleges may require more than one recommendation; make sure to double-check with them. (For more information on requesting recommendations, see Week 10 of your College Summit Navigator.)


December

5. Submit your college application packets. Pay attention to deadlines! Be sure to include your transcript, letter(s) of recommendation, personal statement, and application form.


January

6. Complete the FAFSA to receive financial aid. (For more information on the FAFSA, see Weeks 17 and 18 of your College Summit Navigator.)


March – April

7. Assess your financial aid offers and make your choice about which college to attend. Be sure to inform each of your colleges of your decision.


May – June

8. Celebrate!  You’re graduating!


July – August

9. Get ready for college.  (For tips on preparing for college, see Week 35 of your College Summit Navigator.)


August – September

10. Attend college!
