Volunteer Opportunities

Each summer, College Summit runs four-day workshops (on local college campuses) for rising high school seniors, from our partner schools, on how to navigate the postsecondary process. We work with educators from each of our partner schools to identify the most influential students—not necessarily the top students academically, to attend these workshops.

During the workshop, students are immersed in a dynamic training that will allow them to enter their senior year with a leg up on their postsecondary plans. Over four days, students will:

  • Complete a practice application
  • Craft a personal statement with support of a volunteer writing coach
  • Gain insight about the financial aid process
  • Meet one-on-one with a volunteer college coach
  • Learn how to positively influence their peers outside of the workshop

Once the workshop is completed, students will serve as Peer Leaders, working with educators to drive college-going culture in their school and community. By training influential students to navigate the path to college and to bring higher expectations and college-going know-how into their school to share with classmates, College Summit helps to create sustainable change.

None of this work would be possible without the support of our volunteers, who serve as Writing Coaches and College Coaches each summer to help guide these students through the postsecondary process. At each workshop, 15-20 volunteers join forces to help impact and shape the lives of these amazing students.
