Volunteer Impact

With the support of volunteers all across the country, College Summit has been able to help school districts get on track to creating a college-going culture within their schools and communities.

The data below demonstrates the impact that each and every volunteer has had over the years in ensuring that College Summit achieves it mission of making sure that all students who can make it in college make it to college:

  • Since College Summit was founded in 1993, with the support of volunteers and the guidance of Peer Leaders, we have served over 36,000 students nationwide.
  • Over 700 staff and volunteers this past summer helped Peer Leaders achieve their five goals of learning to positively influence their peers outside the workshop, completing a college common application, gaining insight about financial aid, meeting one-on-one with a college counselor and crafting a personal statement for college.
  • In the summer of 2007, College Summit volunteers supported and trained almost 2,000 students to become Peer Leaders.
  • 79% of College Summit workshop participants enroll in college, significantly above the national average for low-income high school graduates. And 80% of those enrollees stay in college.
