“The first time I was a College Summit volunteer, I was amazed by the strength of the students. It was amazing to be around so many people (staff, volunteers and students) that were ready to make change.”

- Adebola Olarewaju, Neonatal Nurse at UCSF Medical Center, 2007 Berkeley Universiy Workshop Writing Coach

Throughout the summer, College Summit runs four-day workshops for rising high school seniors. 25-30 College Summit staff and volunteers spend four days guiding 40-50 low-income students through the college transition process. Workshops are held on partner college campuses around the country. With the help of volunteers like you, these talented students will achieve five main goals.

They will:

  •  -Complete a practice application
  •  -Craft a personal statement draft
  •  -Gain insight about the financial aid process
  •  -Talk one-on-one with a college coach
  •  -Learn how to positively influence their peers outside of the workshop

For more than a decade, students from across the country have been transformed by College Summit workshops.

The fine print:

  •  -Workshops generally run from early June through mid-August.
  •  -Four-day workshops last from Thursday to Sunday.
  •  -Volunteers are expected to stay on campus for the duration of the workshop (dorm accommodation is provided).
  •  -With long days and lasting results, volunteers and students work together from early morning to late at night.
  •  -Workshops are emotionally intense and demand full attention and openness of all involved.

If you’ve been looking for a way to have a profound impact as a volunteer and enjoy being challenged to grow both professionally and personally, College Summit is the place for you.
