In Appreciation of Eugene Lang
College Summit notes with great respect the passing of Eugene Lang, an investor who made a spontaneous promise to students in a Harlem school to pay for their college education. “Mr. Lang blazed a trail for committed community leaders to connect with, and make a difference in the lives of, young people struggling with poverty,” said College Summit Co-founder J.B. Schramm. Lang’s promise that day ultimately led to the creation of a foundation and assistance to 16,000 students nationwide. Read The New York Times appreciation here.
